Infinity is the polar opposite of nothing. Both infinity and nothing are inconceivable until made relative to each other. In other words, anything more than nothing has to be less than infinite and vice versa. We'll never be able to calculate the first cause of the universe if it is infinite. Maths can't handle infinity, so physics can't either as it is the language of physics. But how does consciousness fit in? In my opinion, the dead matter that makes up the universe is evolving bottom up, and consciousness is evolving top down. Therefore the universe is evolving consciousness as part of the infinite potential of the infinite source of the universe.
